From Iceland with love

Well, considered I sign this blog "with love from sweden" (Swenglish, I know) I kinda had to post this one. It's a bunch of clips I filmed when I went around the island on road number 1 with longer stops in Snaefellsnes and Seydisfjördur. The music is not by an Icelandic band though, couldn't find any Icelandic bands sounding like Sigur Rós under a common creatives licens. My first try at filming and editing so have some patience ^^.

Swedish vs Icelandic politicians.

I guess that Sweden and Iceland should have equally corrupted politicians but the background check on politicians in Sweden have been absurd lately. Several politicians had to resign from the latest government cause they had not payed their TV licens. Its not exactly like they paid their summer cabin with taxpayers money. It's almost so bad that I'm starting to miss the old fashioned, pornclubbing, corrupted social democrats. You Icelanders at least have Össur with a flair for drunk blogging. The nearest we have is a now sober left party woman who got drunk and peed on the floor in a cinema. But that's not funny, that's just plain sad. So, while Swedish top politicians might be a little less corrupted, Swedish politics is not even half as entertaining as Icelandic politics.

Yes, its a montage. Funny thing is, it was one of the first pictures on google.

Elise Hwasser

Eliser Hwasser was a leading actress in Sweden during the late 1800. "In her private life, her habits were considered "manly", and she enjoyed smoking cigars and pipe and drinking punsch." Good enough reason for me, here's a portrait I drew of her.

Speedpaint portrait of Bob Bryar

Damn spiderman movie for making me fall asleep earlier tonight on the coach, leaving me all wide awake now. Speaking of awake and unafraid, here's a portrait I painted of the drummer in My Chemical Romance, Bob Bryar.

Cheers!

Harry Potter speedpaint portrait

Its been a year and a half since I painted this portrait of Harry Potter. My husband got me to record what happened on the screen while I was painting and edited a little youtube clip of it.
Here's the finished picture.

Icelandic men, the acquired taste...

1634635When I first lived in Iceland for a longer period of time I discovered how so many things in Iceland are somewhat a matter of an acquired taste. Hákarl, lysi, skata, all the food from the ţorri... The list of things in Iceland that might not cater to the mainstream tourist grows long. During a night out on town I came to a conclusion: While Icelandic women are on an average so much more beautiful than the other European women, Icelandic men are also somewhat of an acquired taste. Before discovering this, I thought that I had been fortunate enough to find the only good looking icelander there is.
I visited Iceland this Christmas and realized that it was no longer only Jónsi and Pall Oskar who looked good. The pubs where packed with men who looked slightly like my husband and therefore were good looking. There might be hope for the icelandic mankind after all, or for me. However you choose to see it.
